Subject: Brief note from Monday's US Open-

I did not buy tickets in advance nor did I buy a parking permit, in part
because I was not sure I would be there. The traffic (I drove after a 4 day
baseball odyssey in Baltimore and Philadelphia) the wait getting into
general parking was horrendous and the line for tickets was worse.
No excuse for the ticket lines and USTA should be embarrassed, as
many others were right there with me.

I did watch the last two sets of John Isner (ranked 125) lose a close 3
set match (6-7, 4-6, 6-7) to qualifier Andreas Beck (#122), who is from
Germany and I think played at Baylor. Isner still has the big serve, but
his return of serve and ground strokes were bad. He just is too immobile
at his height. Beck played well. I think Isner may have been hurt
recently, but his ranking is headed down after the last few weeks.

If we could combine Isner's serve with SD's all court game, we would
have a top 25 player.
