I think it's an interesting pick. I know of 2 other Jr goalies that were very
interested in UVA - Noftsinger at Collegiate and Adam Davey / Crabs 2011 / Boys Latin. Both will face a higher level of competition over the next 2 years than Heller will in CO, with Davey day-in and day-out facing the highest level of competition in the MIAA. But Davey is also pretty unproven, like Heller. He's transferring in to BL this year. I think this pick raises a queston of how important experience is vs. aptitude for predicting D-1 success. There don't seem to be any real standout goalies in the 2011 class right now. I thought the coaches might hold off on committing a goalie for now and get someone a little later that really stands out and develops this season. Geisler in 2010 class should be quite good. |
