Subject: Actually, i would guess foul differential on average grows late in the game
Posted by: ACC on Thu Aug 7 2008 3:25:30 PM
Message:

for duke, unc, uconn, and other teams that historically win a high
percentage of their games. at the end of games the losing team often
fouls out of desperation or to stop the clock whereas the winning team
goes out of its away to avoid fouling so that the opponent cannot score
with no time running off the clock.

this is the 2nd objective statistical analysis to refute the "duke gets all
the calls" myth (and to show that unc gets more than its fair share of
calls). the acc sports journal and al featherston did one a few years
ago.

it won't affect perception among duke-haters, though. it's interesting to
see the mental gymnastics some will do to still find a conspiracy, no
matter what.

Is that percentage true when it's a non-ACC crew in the NCAA's?   --  hooyorkcity   Fri Aug 8 2008 10:16:37 PM

Yea...by far Duke gets away with more than any other team...how many clock malfu  --  recruitdc   Thu Aug 7 2008 2:47:56 PM
I think when fouls are called during a game is more important than how many.  --  Hillhoo   Thu Aug 7 2008 1:35:43 PM

Thats bc the refs could not get away with pretending as though duke could handle  --  recruitdc   Thu Aug 7 2008 3:19:02 PM
