over the last 8 years. That may be a bit harsh, since they were
basically neutered by The Boss for much of that time, but the point stands. If the Yankees had focused more on pitching and defense, they probably would've won more. Look at this year, they went with a 3 man pitching rotation in the playoffs and all 3 (even Pettitte) were signed as free agents this past offseason. Maybe they won't win every year, but give a decent management department a $200+ million payroll, and they'll win at least 3-4 out of 10. Just because 6 different teams win in those other 6-7 years does not make parity. |
