He pitched very well with Newport before being shut down. I would think
that he has a decent shot at a weekend spot. Carraway obviously is
the anchor, Davis and Packer are possibilities, Cowan as well, Tierney
would have been had he stayed. I have never been that impressed by
Lorick and don't see him being in the mix.
Frankly I would not be shocked if Hultzen and/or Silverstein started
either on Sundays or midweek. Both are exceptional pitchers, and
Silverstein should be 100% by January. I could picture both starting
midweek and DHing, playing OF or spelling Danny Grovatt at 1b. It's
going to be an exciting year. I honestly didn't think ALL of our draftees
would sign, but at least it gives us the opportunity to develop an
exceptional young team, and virtually assures Proscia, Grovatt and
Gosselin of starting spots, and substantial time for Hultzen and
Silverstein on the mound and possibly at the plate.
Is Tyler Wilson coming back? He could also be in the mix for a starting
spot IMO.
