Subject: I don't think you can completely discount AC's performance in JT's psychology.

JT was the #3 starter by the end of the season this year, and he was
facing a choice between signing for $195k (probably $1M less than
what he would have gotten had the draft taken place in March) and
rolling the dice and coming back to UVA and playing second fiddle to
AC, because he surely would not have been the staff ace at the start of
the season.
I'm not saying it was a huge factor, but it has to have been a factor.
