there when I was kid. I have watched both mostly horrible original Nats
teams leave (Twins and Rangers). Attendance seems to be lagging
even with the new stadium and they must be one of the three worst
MLB teams this year.

Attracting top free agents seems to be very unlikely, because the team
revenues must be in the bottom quartile of MLB. Building through the
draft rarely works, although a few teams are doing it this year (Twins,
Marlins. Rays), but these teams almost never sign their best players
once they become free agents, so I see little chance the Nats can do it.
